ROB’S MINIATURE BATTLEFIELDS

One of the fun exhibitions every year is the Historical Battlefields.

Robert prides himself on his interest in military history and sets up a famous battle of the “War Between the States” or also known as the American Civil War. Robert believes that history is poorly taught in most schools and it is within the stories and visual experiences that the door to the incredible wealth of history opens.  It started with the First Day of Gettysburg in September 1998, followed by the battle of Franklin in 1999 and the entire Battle of Gettysburg in 2000.  We skipped 2001 and then we had Antietem also known as Sharpsburg in 2002 and then Fredericksburg in 2004.  Many of these battlefields look nothing like they were and so it is hard to imagine what they were like otherwise. Kids of all ages come to view the battles and get the historical background. History comes alive and you can see the smoke and hear the rattle of musketry fire as the brave soldiers in Blue and Grey contest the chosen ground.  Usually displayed for 1-2 months we have many visitors including school groups.  If you are interested call Deb and she will put you on the contact list for the next battle.
